Recycling to create the ultimate urban ‘green’ space
Small gardens may appear to have limited options but a recent project for a client in Chiswick proves that size doesn’t matter when it comes to creating the perfect outdoor space.
That’s because the team at Urbanscaping UK is expert at thinking big and imagining better. We believe that small gardens don’t have to be restricted to paving and planters – imagination is the only limit.
Here we started with a blank canvas of a small, overgrown back garden of a terraced house. With French windows opening onto the garden, they wanted something that was both practical and attractive: they were also keen to include recycled materials in the design.
We used reclaimed railway sleepers to create raised flower beds and built a pergola and fencing with reclaimed scaffold boards. A small lawn of real grass, black brick patio and polished concrete bench for seating and sunbathing completed the look, complemented by outdoor lighting controlled by a wireless system.
As usual with a garden of this size – and in a terrace – access was a bit of challenge, as we had to bring the materials through the house. But we have a great deal of experience in this way of working and our team always take great care.
The project was completed in three weeks and, as the photographs show, the result is a stunning outdoor idyll. Through imaginative design, use of high quality materials and recycled elements, we were able to create the ultimate urban ‘green’ space.
